VISITING LAKE COMO WITH ITS PICTURESQUE SURROUNDINGS

We will spend our day exploring Lake Como and the towns surrounding it. A little less than 2 hours drive will bring us to our first stop, the village of Varenna, a less touristy experience than some of the other lakeside communities. We will take its wonderful path called the Passeggiate Degli Innamorati, or Lover’s walk, that hugs the coast and allows great views of the lake. Its cobblestone streets and narrow alleys will eventually lead us to the historic center of Varenna, and the Church of San Giorgio with its clock tower rising above the town. Within eyesight of Bellagio and Menaggio, it’s the perfect location for exploring the mid-section of Lake Como, From here we will take a 15 minute Ferry to Ballagio – the “pearl of the lake”, a chic and glamorous town, home of the rich and famous. This beautiful and very interesting area loaded with charm and character. We will walk by the coastline, climb up the hill to the heart of the town, and explore ancient churches, shopped in narrow alleys. Another 45 minutes Ferry will take us to the legendary town of Como, where we will take the funicular (cable-car) up the mountain to a place called Brunate, where we will have the most magnificent views of the Lake. We will come then back to explore Como before taking a 1.15 hour drive, back to our hotel on Lake Maggorie.
